Beans are tested for quality and are then purchased from farmers and collected at centralized depots for transportation. Once sufficient volume is collected, the beans are transported to Cartagena where they undergo further testing, and are rebagged into new jute bags.
Approved bags of beans are loaded into ventilated or starvent containers. Each container is lined with kraft paper to protect the beans from any contamination over the course of delivery. The beans will continue to dry, loosing as much as 3% of their shipped weight before arriving at port.
